Expected Parent Class #3/Non Stress Test

Tonight we had our 3rd expected parent class. It was held at the hospital. We got a tour of the maternity wing and they explained all the functions around. We saw the different birthing rooms, where the babies slept and got weighed, and we met a few of the nurses. Because we are one of the furthest pregnancies along in our class, I got hooked up to the non stress test monitor to show how it works and what all the random numbers mean. It is a test that measures the baby's activy and the activity of my uterus (checking for contractions and their frequency). We were able to see that our little girl was active and happy (she even had the hiccups for a period of time). Her heart rate was anywhere from 120s to 160s. The nurse was saying that was great because it meant she was moving around and active. If baby's heart rate stays consistent at a specific level (high or low) it usually means baby is sleeping. As far as my uterine activity....ZERO contractions! Nothing really even close to a contraction. That's fine with me though since I need her to stay in there for at least 4 more weeks till winter break. We will see what the doctor thinks at our next appointment on Tuesday.
