Today was our first expected parent class at the hospital. We aren't required to take them, but our dr recommends them, the insurance allows me to use my HSA acct to pay for them, and to be honest we don't know what we are doing....so we thought it would be good to take.
Class 1: We discussed the baby's positions and how that affects giving birth naturally vs a c-section. We talked about pre-term labor and what the warning signs of labor are. Finally we discussed the different ways to cope with the pain of giving birth: pain medicines (yes please!), changes in position (birthing ball, whirlpool, walking around), and things that Chad can do to help with the process. Our next class is in one week, and we will talk about the actual birth and apparently watch videos of live births. Should be interesting....
